Database Server

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 31 views

The Database Server section provides the main administration area for managing database connectivity, listener configuration, field-level protection settings, query visibility, and database object information in OneDB.

This section is used by administrators to prepare and manage the database environments that will be protected through OneDB. It helps centralize the configuration required for OneDB to connect to target databases, receive application traffic, apply protection settings, and review database activity.

Overview

The Database Server menu contains several key functions used to manage database protection operations in OneDB.

Menu Overview
Connection Used to create and manage database connection profiles. A connection profile contains the information required by OneDB to connect to a target database server.
Listeners Used to configure OneDB listener services. A listener defines where applications connect to OneDB before the traffic is forwarded to the target database.
Field Settings Used to configure field-level protection settings for database tables or views. Administrators can define which fields should be protected or masked by OneDB.
Query Audit Used to review SQL activity captured by OneDB. This helps administrators monitor database access and query execution through the OneDB gateway.
Databases Used to access database-specific object views based on supported database engines, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.

Supported Database Views

The Databases menu provides access to database-specific information for supported database platforms.

Database Type Description
Oracle Displays Oracle-related database objects and information available through OneDB.
MsSQL Displays Microsoft SQL Server-related database objects and information available through OneDB.
PostgreSQL Displays PostgreSQL-related database objects and information available through OneDB.
MySQL Displays MySQL-related database objects and information available through OneDB.

Typical Usage Flow

A typical administration flow in the Database Server section is:

  1. Register the target database in Connection.
  2. Configure the OneDB access point in Listeners.
  3. Define protected fields in Field Settings.
  4. Monitor captured SQL activity in Query Audit.
  5. Browse or review database object information from the Databases menu.

Summary

The Database Server section acts as the central workspace for managing database protection in OneDB. It allows administrators to configure database connectivity, route application traffic through OneDB, define field-level protection settings, and review database activity from a single management interface.
